Annual report 2022-23 (including grants report)
The Carlton’s Wind Turbine Committee Chair’s Annual Report
August 2023
2022-23 has been a quieter year for our Committee.
Currently, the Wind Turbine Committee consists of:
• 2 current Great Carlton Parish Councillors
• 2 current Little Carlton Parish Councillors
• 2 residents of the villages, (2 x GC)
Details of members can be found on our website https://carltons.parish.lincolnshire.gov.uk/about
Our LC resident, Kate Berridge, resigned her position after our February meeting. Thanks to Kate
for her valued contribution. As I write this report, no residents have expressed an interest in joining
and so we will continue to advertise.
We are also looking for a new Clerk and Finance Officer. We have one interested candidate in the
pipeline.
Progress of applications:
• Solar PV for Village Hall roof - VHT (Village Hall Trustees) - £8640 - 2021-22
• Village Hall fence – VHT - £1600 - 2021-22
Both are now paid.
2022-23 applications:
Sir Edward Smith Trust – Educational Charity for young people in the Carltons – grant for
£2,400 awarded
£600 awarded to the Village Hall Trustees for a floor survey
£1055 awarded for two commemorative oak benches purchased in memory of villagers
who made a huge contribution to the life of the Carltons
£109.62 for sundries relating to plaques for the two oak saplings planted in the villages to
commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
£5000 for a second direct grant to the Parish Council to help cover annual expenses which
had previously been applied for on an individual basis, to save work and time, as last year.
However, the funds remain held in the WT accounts as the underspend from the award
from 2021-22 is still sufficient as only about half was used in the last financial year. These
funds will be drawn on during this financial year if and when required, to enable any interest
to be retained for the WTF.
Many thanks once again to all involved.
